for someone who likes to talk bad about capitalism, my favorite days of this time of year are the one where i figure out what to buy for people. and the other where i get to give it to them.

both seeing if i've surprised them in that way where it's clear that i know them more than in passing and have, if for just a moment, figured them out in such a way to make them laugh. and the momentary intimacy of it all.
