i read this thing the other day, i don't remember where, that mentioned part of the reason women stereotypically go to the bathroom in pairs or groups is safety. i think i'm pretty with it and cognizant of things but either i knew this previously and forgot or it had never crossed my field of view, but it struck me.

the essay (i think it was) went on to discuss about how the author (female) had to plan her day, and therefore her life, around being safe. she didn't make it sound overly-dramatic, but that it was exhausting and time consuming and stress inducing and ridiculous. and it certainly seems all of those things. i almost never worry about my safety and that fact that more than half the population needs to is utterly stupid.

shit like this is hard to watch on nature documentaries, or films on small developing nations. it is disgusting that it happens here.
