a common enough thought, for me, when people are having difficulty sorting a situation is that.. they are adults, it should be simple.

but then the issues are more serious, the understanding of potential impact is deeper. the situations are more convoluted and one can appreciate more perspectives.

and you acquire all of the responsibility as you lose the convenient excuse. effectively, little really changes.
