having known someone for years and having made an effort to know them and know about them, the moving on can be difficult.

more than that though, time did not slow in the outside world, and when one emerges they are to find themself aged. that "lost" time will never return. any future investment of time is starting with a deficit.

the fearidea being that they are too far along; too far distant from a time when they could learn another's language.

there is hope that the learning to translate would be as satisfying as becoming fluent was, but that is a tough sell. a tough cell. _ ____ ___.
